York Cricket Club concluded their official 2024 season in style with a spirited match against Wesley College OBA last Saturday. YCC posted a challenging total of 211, thanks to Kannan's blistering 44 off 34 balls, including four massive sixes, and a crucial fifty from Tibish, who took the attack to the bowlers. Pradap anchored the innings with a patient 31, while Rafi added a quickfire 23 down the order, ensuring a strong finish. Despite early wickets falling, the team showcased resilience and depth, driving the total past the 200-mark.

With the ball, YCC's bowlers displayed excellent control. Shawn drew first blood, dismissing Angelo early, while Hyder cleaned up the dangerous Jeyakanth. Thaya and Rafi then turned the game decisively in YCC's favor. Rafi's impeccable spell of 4/10, supported by Tibish's two crucial wickets, dismantled Wesley College OBA's middle and lower order, leading to their dismissal for 159. Rafi's spell was the highlight of the day, putting the pressure on Wesley College OBA and leaving them with no answers.

This win marks YCC’s 17th victory in 26 games, wrapping up a successful season with 7 losses and 2 games abandoned due to weather. The team’s efforts and perseverance throughout the season have been remarkable.

Now, all eyes turn to the intra-club game tomorrow at Glendon Ground. The clash between YCC President's XI, led by Kannan, and YCC Captain's XI, led by Pradap, promises to be an exciting spectacle. The unique format and reversed batting orders will surely offer surprises and competitive cricket. For those playing or watching, this is the perfect way to cap off the season. The match begins at 11:30 am, so be sure to arrive early to support your fellow club members!

And don’t forget, the celebration doesn’t end there! The YCC End of the Season Social Event will take place on the 5th of October at WhiteShield Banquet Hall at 6:30 pm. Let’s gather together to celebrate another fantastic season, the camaraderie, and the memories created on and off the field.
